Russian army attacks Kherson and Beryslav, killing and injuring civilians

On the morning of January 17, the Russian army attacked Kherson, killing one person and injuring another. Later, it attacked the town of Beryslav, injuring three residents

Head of Kherson Regional Military Administration Oleksandr Prokudin and the head of the City Military Administration Roman Mrochko reported this.

Around 11:30 a.m., Russia attacked Kherson. From the temporarily occupied left bank, the invading forces struck several times at the Dniprovskyi district of the city.

One of the strikes hit the garage. At least 1 fire broke out after the hits.

According to preliminary reports, the strike killed one person and injured another. In addition, the attack caused power outages.

Prokudin also showed the consequences and shared the details of the attack.

"A garage and a car caught fire due to Russian shelling. Rescuers quickly extinguished the fire. The houses of the townspeople were also damaged. A 37-year-old man who was on the street sustained injuries incompatible with life," the statement reads.

The 81-year-old Kherson woman was also diagnosed with blast trauma and contusions. Doctors treated her on the spot.

The Prosecutor General's Office reported that, according to the investigation, the Russian army had fired on the city with mortar weapons beforehand. A pre-trial investigation has been launched into "the fact of violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with premeditated murder."

Later that day, the Russian troops also shelled Beryslav, Kherson region. According to Prokudin, a house with an elderly couple was hit by the Russians.

A 60-year-old resident and her 62-year-old husband sustained the same injuries - blast trauma and head wounds. In addition, a 54-year-old man sustained an explosive injury and an arm wound.

All the victims received medical care.

In the afternoon of January 17, Russians attacked the city again around 2:35 p.m., the Kherson Regional Military Administration reported.

"A 71-year-old Kherson woman who was in the building was wounded. The victim was taken to the hospital with explosive trauma, forearm and head wounds. She is receiving medical care," the statement says.
