Politicians responsible for rising anti-Ukrainian sentiment in Poland — UA FUTURE chief
Politicians are responsible for the growing negative sentiment among Poles toward Ukrainians, as all parties invoked the theme of war fatigue during Poland’s presidential elections
The chief of the UA FUTURE Foundation, Piotr Kaszuwara, shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
“I don’t want to explain what’s happening, because there’s nothing to explain here — it’s total madness, and we need to apologize, I would say, for what sometimes happens in Poland, for how some people treat Ukrainians. I have been helping Ukraine for four years now. My acquaintances in Poland treat Ukrainians absolutely normally, and Poland has 38 million residents — but if you take 100,000 and have them start shouting ‘We hate Ukrainians,’ we will hear them. We will not hear the 37 million who feel nothing bad toward Ukrainians, but we will hear those 100,000. Why does this happen? I am almost certain that politicians are to blame, because we recently had presidential elections. And here all political parties exploited hatred toward Ukrainians, as well as people’s war fatigue, to get radical groups to vote for them,” he noted.
Piotr Kaszuwara emphasized that there was not a single party that did not take advantage of the topic of Russia’s war in Ukraine.
“And this was very bad, because they (politicians – ed.) are responsible for our future, since over2 million people now live in Poland. Some say there are 3 million Ukrainians — this is a large number. And we must also be responsible for what will happen to them now, how we will treat them, and what the atmosphere in our country will be like. It is a great pity that to this day we do not know what Russian influence there was on the elections in Poland, because last year the Czech counterintelligence informed about Viktor Medvedchuk’s group, which financed political parties in Europe and tried to influence the elections to the European Union. And I know, because I contacted Czech counterintelligence, that they passed this information on to the Polish security service. They know perfectly well who received money from the Russians, who may influence the moods in Poland, but we still do not know this. Many journalists have asked the Polish intelligence service who is responsible for all this, and unfortunately, we have not received an answer to this day,” said the chief of the UA FUTURE Foundation.
