Number of MPs' assistants increases during full-scale war in Ukraine

‘During the full-scale invasion, the number of assistants to members of the Verkhovna Rada increased, despite the fact that there were 20 fewer MPs in the parliament. And the number of assistants increased by 500 people, to about 4,449. It is important to note that only 1,080 of them receive a salary. The rest are volunteer assistants, meaning that they work for free, receive only certificates and certain political benefits,’ said the parliamentary analyst of the CHESNO Movement.

Viktoria Oliynyk added that only those MPs' assistants who work officially under an employment contract, i.e. 1,080 people, have the opportunity to receive a reservation and avoid mobilization to the army. In May 2024, a rule was introduced that gave this number of assistants the right to receive a reservation.
