National Council of Switzerland recognises Holodomor in Ukraine as act of genocide
On Tuesday, September 24, the Swiss National Council, the lower house of parliament, recognised the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as an act of genocide. The declaration was supported by 123 deputies

This was reported by the Holodomor Museum.
‘The National Council recognises as an act of genocide the systematic actions that led to famine on a large scale and were committed with the intention of fully or partially destroying a national, ethnic, racial or religious group as such,’ the document says.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk expressed his gratitude to the Swiss parliament, saying that this decision was historic.
‘This is a truly historic decision. And this is an extremely important step towards restoring historical justice and preserving the memory of millions of innocent victims,’ he said.
