"Medvedev threatened to kill me": Hockey legend Hasek speaks out about Russia's ex-president
Legendary Czech goaltender Dominik Hasek stated that Dmitry Medvedev, former president of Russia and now deputy head of the Russian Security Council, had threatened to kill him
He made this statement on the social media platform X.
Hasek informed that he had sent official letters on this matter to the president and members of the executive board of the International Olympic Committee, as well as to the president and members of the board of the International Ice Hockey Federation.
He also mentioned the need to establish rules to ensure that sports events are not used as propaganda for Russia's war.
"Former Russian President Medvedev threatened to kill me. Furthermore, among other things, I point out how important their decisions will be in the coming months and again offer assistance in creating rules so that sports competitions are not an advertisement for the Russian war and people do not die because of them," the hockey player wrote.
The athlete believes that his letters are important for both the sports and non-sports communities, and he plans to release them publicly in a few days.
Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs statement
Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský expressed support for Hasek, emphasizing that "primitive intimidation" is normal in Putin's Russia, but not in civilized countries.
"Medvedev considers it normal to make crude threats against a person who is not afraid to condemn the Russian war and fight against the abuse of sports to promote this war. Primitive intimidation is normal in Putin's Russia, but not in civilized countries," he wrote.
- Earlier, Dominik Hasek stated that neither the EU nor the U.S. has the right to negotiate the end of the war with Russia on behalf of Ukraine.
