This was reported by the investigative editorial office of Suspilne.

In the video received by the editorial office, the Russian says that near Kurylivka, Kursk region, the Russian army captured two Ukrainian servicemen.

"I tied him to a tree, took him to an evacuation. After that, I returned to the second soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The second soldier was seriously injured, in the leg by a fragment from a quadcopter. After that, I contacted my commander of the 2nd platoon, Gyurza. He gave me the order to kill the soldier who had a fragment in his leg. After that, I shot the soldier," he says in the video.

A few days after the murder, the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine captured a Russian soldier of the 810th Brigade.

Currently, the Military Counterintelligence Department, together with the Main Investigation Department of the SBU, under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine, are recording a criminal offense under Article 438 of the Criminal Code (war crimes), and are preparing to announce suspicion of the murder of a Ukrainian prisoner of war.

The Russian said he was ready to take the punishment and admits his guilt.

According to the captured Russian soldier, the order for the murder was given by a Russian soldier with the call sign Gyurza, whom law enforcement officers are now trying to identify.

  • Andriy Sybiha, Ukraine's Foreign Minister, appealed to the OSCE to react to the systematic cases of executions of Ukrainian prisoners of war by the Russian troops, which is a direct violation of international humanitarian law.
