Indian-made part found in Russian weapons – Ukraine's intel
For the first time, experts have found an Indian-made component in Russian weapons. At the same time, Russia has almost completely phased out American parts in its arsenal
Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence (HUR) reported the information.
According to the report, intelligence has identified nearly 200 new parts and components used in six types of Russian weapons. These include the CRP antenna in the Russian Shahed drone, the North Korean KN-24 ballistic missile, the computer from the Kh-47 Kinzhal missile, and components in the Supercam S350, Gerbera, and Zala drones.
HUR says only two American-made chips were found in the new CRP antennas for the Geran-2 drone. This shows Russia’s ongoing push to cut its reliance on components from countries that have imposed sanctions.
Previously, new interference-resistant antennas with Chinese markings were discovered in Russian Shahed drones. In one of those antennas, 13 out of 15 parts were made outside the U.S. — only two came from American firms Texas Instruments and Linear Technologies.
The rest of the components — transceivers, signal generators, converters, and other microchips — were all made in China. The main chip in the CRP antenna, which filters and analyzes incoming signals, was produced by the Beijing Microelectronics Technology Institute.
Intelligence also confirmed that, for the first time, an Indian-made part was found in a Russian weapon — a clock buffer made by Aura Semiconductor.
HUR added that the origin of two more components hasn't been confirmed yet, but they’re likely Chinese as well.
- Recently, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russia is using Shahed drones and aerial bombs loaded with foreign-made parts, which are supplied through sanctions loopholes. According to him, these weapons include over 82,000 such components.
