Ukraine's Air Force names necessary means to hit Russian targets, including Su-25 aircraft
The recent destruction of a Russian Su-25 aircraft in the Donetsk region by Ukrainian defenders highlights the urgent need for appropriate equipment to target such threats
This is according to a statement from the spokesperson of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Air Force, Ilya Yevlash, during a telethon broadcast.
Yevlash stressed that the downed aircraft was targeted by a unit of the Ukrainian Ground Forces.
"As you know, our Ground Forces are equipped with air defense systems capable of engaging aircraft, particularly short and medium-range systems, which play a critical role," he explained.
Yevlash reiterated that this incident underscores the necessity for the Ukrainian Armed Forces to possess the right tools to engage such threats effectively.
"The Armed Forces require portable air defense systems capable of engaging low-flying targets and drones, which are increasingly prevalent. Additionally, we need more advanced systems, including not only Western options but also BUK systems, which can effectively counter Russian helicopters and attack aircraft, such as the Su-25," the spokesperson stated.
