Other countries must join war in Ukraine to defeat Russia – diplomat Chaly
Valery Chaly, former Ukraine's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, asserts that defeating Russia on the battlefield will be challenging without the involvement of other nations' armies
Chaly shared his views on Espreso TV.
"The terms for ending the war won't be decided at summits. That's just ongoing work. Ending the war through negotiations requires both sides to be ready. This can happen when one side completely dominates and the other capitulates. It can also occur if one side is willing to make major concessions, as Finland did. Another likely scenario is both sides getting exhausted and pausing at the current front line, which means the war isn't formally over," Chaly explained.
The diplomat stressed that peace agreements with the Russian Federation are currently out of the question.
"I can't imagine a direct peace agreement between Zelenskyy and Putin. Putin is a war criminal and knows he won't be granted indulgence. Besides, I don't understand these divisions into issues being considered at the Peace Summit. It's clear to me that military force is the only way to stop Russia. The question is what force and assistance we'll have to halt the Russian occupation army. Ideally, to defeat Russia on the battlefield, we need other countries to get involved. This war is a challenge not only for Ukraine, but we're fighting it alone," he added.

In response, Mykhailo Podolyak, an adviser to the head of the President's Office, stated that Ukraine will not give up any territories, emphasizing that it is a matter of self-respect.
- Trump also claimed he could compel Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to sign a peace deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin within 24 hours of returning to the White House.
- On July 3, Politico reported that US presidential candidate Donald Trump has a plan for NATO. This plan includes a "two-tier system" for the Alliance, a commitment to not expand eastward, and negotiations with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin regarding Ukrainian territories.
