This was reported by the press service of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine on May 28.
It is noted that more than 2,300 hectares of forests are burning in the Kharkiv region.
"Rescuers are extinguishing 18 forest fires in the Kharkiv region. They have already managed to localize 9 forest fires on an area of 141 hectares," the agency said.
"Emergency workers are working in extremely difficult conditions, being under constant enemy attack. The difficulty of extinguishing the fires is also due to the fact that parts of the forests in the frontline areas are mined and contaminated with unexploded munitions," they added.
Sappers and medics of the State Emergency Service are also involved in the work.
- On May 27, media reported that ammunition left by Russian troops during the temporary occupation of Kharkiv region was detonating due to forest fires in Balakliya.
