New wave of mobilization is possible after the New Year - Hanna Malyar
The future wave of mobilization depends on the situation at the front, but it is possible after the beginning of 2023
Hanna Malyar, Ukraine's Deputy Minister of Defense, said this on the air of the Ukrainian "1+1" TV channel.
She claimed that the next wave of mobilization will be publicly discussed after the beginning of 2023. Hanna Malyar reported on the need for compensation for losses and rehabilitation of wounded soldiers, as well as replacement of military personnel who have been defending Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.
"There is a need to rehabilitate those soldiers who were injured in the war," said the deputy minister of defense. "These things are difficult to predict, because mobilization depends on the needs of the war. And, in addition, there are losses and a need for replenishment of troops, even those people who are now fighting need to be replaced."
Later, Hanna Malyar clarified her words.
"The mobilization depends on the course of the war. Therefore, the forecasts here are incorrect. The mobilization is announced by the president's decree. The general mobilization in Ukraine has been ongoing since February 24, 2022 and is periodically extended by the president's decrees due to the ongoing large-scale armed aggression of Russia against Ukraine. So far, the mobilization has been extended several times for 90 days. Now it has been extended from November 21 for 90 days (Decree dated November 7, 2022 No. 758)," she explained.
Hanna Malyar also added that mobilization needs depend on several factors, and the military calculates this need.
"Issues related to mobilization are regulated by the Law "On Mobilization Preparation and Mobilization" and the Constitution of Ukraine. According to these norms, the President of Ukraine:
- carries out general management in the field of mobilization preparation and mobilization of the state;
- determines the purpose, task, type, scope, order and terms of mobilization preparation and mobilization.
