New Russian troops arrive in Avdiivka area - local authority

Head of the Avdiivka Military Administration Vitaliy Barabash said this on Espreso TV.

"Lately, the enemy has been trying to regain lost ground. These are massive assaults with the use of armored vehicles and artillery. Over the last day, 10 attacks took place in our direction, mostly north of the city. Two attacks took place in the south. None of them were successful. Over the last day, 200 artillery attacks on positions around the city, 18 massive shelling of the city, and 2 air strikes with missiles yesterday morning," he said.

Barabash added that the city was mostly shelled with MLRS systems.

"A 42-year-old woman was wounded. We provided her with assistance and took her out of the city. She is not in danger, her condition is stable," he said. 

Barabash emphasized that the Defense Forces are holding the line, the situation is under control.

"Fresh meat has appeared in recent days - most likely, Russian marines. We don't know the unit yet - there have been no interceptions, no one has been taken prisoner yet. We can see that they are a little bit charged up for activity - they go several times a day from the same directions. Most likely, they were transferred from somewhere. We can see that they know how to fight - they are not some mobilized people. It is clear that they have a little experience," he summarized.

• According to the Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff, in the Avdiivka direction, over 10 settlements of the Donetsk region came under shelling.
