Netherlands to provide Ukraine with 20 000 shells for Leopard 2 tanks
The Netherlands supports Ukraine in the war with Russia, will supply ammunition for Leopard 2 and may transfer tanks if Germany consents
This is reported by De Telegraaf.
During a NATO press conference, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced that the Netherlands will provide Ukraine with 20 000 shells for Leopard 2 tanks.
"This is crucial. It doesn't make much sense to just deliver a tank. We must deliver the complete package. In addition to the training of the Ukrainian military, there is a need for ammunition and spare parts. In the tank coalition, the Netherlands is the only country without tanks, but we have offered help with training in addition to ammunition and spare parts. Together we can provide what Ukraine needs.”
The Netherlands offered to help Ukraine with the training of fighters and spare parts," the Ministry of Defense said in a statement.
The Guardian reports that the Netherlands can also send 18 German tanks to Ukraine.
Prime Minister Mark Rutte and the Minister of Defense Kajsa Ollongren said that their country is ready for such a step.
