Ukrainian Navy shares details of damage to Russia's Black Sea Fleet vessel Pavel Derzhavin
A Russian vessel from the Black Sea Fleet, named Pavel Derzhavin, sustained damage near Sevastopol in Crimea, which is currently under Russian control
Captain Dmytro Pletenchuk, a spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy, shared the details with Espreso TV.
"The Russian Black Sea Fleet ship Pavel Derzhavin is a rather rare bird. The Russians had two of these ships in the Black Sea Fleet, as far as I remember, out of a total of four. This is the newest ship of the near sea zone, which is a patrol ship. It was built in 2019 and put into service in 2020. Accordingly, it is a very new ship. Even in its appearance, it copies the stealth technologies (technology of reducing visibility - ed.) of the world leaders in naval construction. I'm not ready to say how well it meets stealth, but I can say that it is one of those ships that was unlucky to be left to patrol something," Pletenchuk said.
Earlier, he confirmed that the ship was damaged in an interview on Radio Svoboda.
He stated: "I can officially confirm today that it was damaged. However, I cannot provide specific information about this incident's circumstances. Let's call it an incident for now."
- On the evening of Saturday, October 7, the Russian Ministry of Defense accused Ukraine of carrying out an alleged missile attack on the temporarily occupied Crimea.
