NATO countries start military drills near borders of Belarus and Ukraine
The Alliance's troops have started military exercises near the borders of Belarus and Ukraine: Iron Wolf - in Lithuania, Puma - in Poland
The Alliance countries announced this on Twitter.
NATO countries have started military exercises on the eastern flank of the Alliance. Iron Wolf maneuvers are conducted in Lithuania and Puma drills – in Poland.
In addition to the Lithuanian armed forces, nine other NATO countries, including Germany, Norway, Great Britain and the USA, are participating in Iron Wolf, with about 3,500 soldiers and 700 pieces of equipment involved. The exercise has been renamed Iron Wolf 2022-II, because Iron Wolf 2022-I was held in May.
As for the Puma training, the Rzeszów district was chosen as the location for the training, which has become an important logistical hub for the supply of weapons to Ukraine by NATO countries.
Poland and Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Hungary, as well as some units from Great Britain and the USA, participate in these exercises. The Ministry of Defense of Poland reported on the movement of a significant amount of military equipment on the night of October 22-23 to the training ground in Nowa Deba.
A separate element of the training is the march itself, which will pass through Rzeszów in order to practice movement in conditions of dense urban development. The 18th mechanized division of the Polish Army also takes part in these drills.
