The organizer of the event, Yevhen Notevskyi, reported the information, according to Suspilne.
The net was woven at the initiative of volunteers from the Youth is the Future of the Nation NGO as part of the "Ukrainian Armed Forces Under Cover: The Art of Disguise in Action" campaign. The net was spread out amidst a backdrop of burnt and seized Russian equipment during a parade on Khreshchatyk in Kyiv.
Stretching approximately one kilometer in length, the net included a deliberate 50-meter gap at its base. This space allowed Kyiv residents and visitors to partake in the weaving process and contribute to the record-setting attempt.
It took 7 days and about 500 people to make the net.
Representatives of the Ukrainian Book of Records measured the size of the net and confirmed the new record.
"We have 2,294 square meters. This is the largest net in Ukraine today. It was measured by area because it was specified in the nomination. And today we have surpassed the record that was set in Lviv in 2022," said Lana Vietrova, head of the National Register of Records of Ukraine.
The further fate of the camouflage net has already been decided: it will be cut and supplied to the Ukrainian military. As of August 25, volunteers have received requests from 12 combat brigades.
