Most Russian attacks in Toretsk come from air, UAVs cover 10–20 km — Ukraine’s 28th Brigade
In the Toretsk direction, Russian troops are constantly regrouping because of a shortage of forces
The head of recruitment for Ukraine's 28th Mechanized Brigade named after the Knights of the Winter Campaign, Denys Shvydkyi, spoke about this on Espreso TV.
“No significant breakthroughs were recorded over the past day, and in the overall situation, most attacks are coming from the air, primarily with drones, which are being used massively. Areas like Oleksandro-Shultyne, Katerynivka, Chasiv Yar, and Yablunivka are more active from the Russian side. They are using drones, bringing in artillery, constantly conducting small-group assaults, and looking for weak points to break through. But so far, we are holding the line, no major problems have arisen, and the enemy is not advancing. We also notice constant regrouping because they lack sufficient forces. They continually use human resources in so-called ‘meat assaults,’ but otherwise, there have been no major changes,” he said.
Denys Shvydkyi also noted that the invading Russian forces are using mobile equipment, including motorcycles, and only rarely heavy machinery.
“They use mobile equipment - motorcycles. They very rarely use heavy machinery, and then only to distract us or to make us use more of our own weapons. There haven’t been any other major changes. Mostly, it’s small groups, but locally, they constantly attempt advances from different directions and various towns,” the serviceman said.
He noted that Russian drones fly large distances.
“They fly very far, 10–20 kilometers, passing over Kostiantynivka, Druzhkivka, Kramatorsk, Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka - these areas are constantly swarming with FPV reconnaissance drones. So there is a continuous struggle in the air. Not just the Pleshchiivka road, but also the Yablunivka - Kostiantynivka and Pleshchiivka - Kostiantynivka roads, all the routes from the Bakhmut direction - they are completely covered by drones. FPV drones are used for reconnaissance, drops, and the fight continues nonstop,” Denys Shvydkyi said.
- Over September 28, the Russian army lost 1,080 troops in the war against Ukraine. The Ukrainian Defense Forces destroyed dozens of weapons and pieces of equipment.
