Cyberattack forces Russia’s Aeroflot to cancel dozens of flights for second day

The state-owned Russian airline Aeroflot on Tuesday, July 29, once again canceled more than 50 flights to and from Moscow

Russia’s Interfax reported the information, citing data from the airport’s online departure board.

According to the report, Aeroflot canceled 22 flights from Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport and 31 flights bound for Moscow on Tuesday.

This concerns both the airline’s own flights and those operated jointly with its subsidiary airline Rossiya.

  • On July 28, Russia’s largest airline, Aeroflot, announced a failure in its information systems, which led to the cancellation of flights to a number of cities. The hacker groups Silent Crow and Cyber Partisans BY claimed responsibility for the attack. The Russian Prosecutor General’s Office reported that a criminal case had been opened regarding unauthorized access to computer information.
