More than a thousand civilians are now in captivity of invaders - Vereshchuk

There are now more than a thousand Ukrainians in Russian captivity, but they will not be exchanged for the military, because this is prohibited by the Geneva Convention

This was announced by the Minister of Reintegration Iryna Vereshchuk on the air of the telethon.

"More than a thousand civilians are held captive by the Russians, more than five hundred are women. We will not exchange the military for civilians, because this is prohibited by the Geneva Convention. We demand the release of our civilians without any conditions", Vereshchuk said.

At the same time, she emphasized that Russia does not fully comply with the Geneva Convention on the Treatment of Prisoners. They are exchanged selectively and do not pay attention to the lists provided by the Ukrainian side.

Regarding the number of captured soldiers, according to Vereshchuk, Ukraine and Russia have approximate parity: both the Ukrainian and Russian sides have about 700 prisoners of war.
