More than 1 million Ukrainian children have already become refugees - UNICEF

"The number of children on the move is impressive. It shows how desperate the situation has become for children and families in Ukraine", UNICEF Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia Afshan Khan said.

"Children leave everything they know in search of safety. It breaks the heart", he added.

Most fled with their families to Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Moldova, and Romania.

UNICEF sent 6 trucks with almost 70 tons of humanitarian aid to Ukraine. The supply includes personal protective equipment and medical, surgical, and obstetric kits.
