Zircon missile consists almost entirely of foreign elements — aviation expert Khrapchynskyi
Aviation expert Anatoliy Khrapchynskyi noted that Ukraine needs the THAAD system, which is capable of shooting down ballistic missiles at an altitude of over 100 km above the ground
He shared the information on Espreso TV.
"Now we have a larger fragment of the Russian Zircon missile, and we can do a more thorough study, confirming or denying the tactical and technical characteristics that Russian propaganda has been claiming. The Zircon is a ballistic missile that Russians can launch from Crimea. Therefore, the approach time is very short, and all security measures must be observed. Russia has begun to actively use such remnants of crucial weapons out of desperation because they have no victories on the front line," Khrapchynskyi suggested.
According to the aviation expert, Russian troops are changing the tactics of attacking Ukraine, trying to cause as much damage as possible. That is why they use rather rare missiles.
"It should be noted that the Zircon missile consists almost entirely of foreign elements. I am not sure that Russia can produce them in large quantities or on an industrial level. We need to strengthen our air defense, to increase our counter-ballistic missile defense. The latest massive strike shows that the number of ballistic missiles used by the aggressor is increasing. We would like to get reinforced Patriot systems. It would also be good if we received the THAAD system, which we requested before Patriot was provided and which is capable of shooting down ballistic missiles at an altitude of more than 100 km above the ground," Khrapchynskyi added.
- On Monday morning, March 25, Russian terrorists launched a missile attack on the capital of Ukraine. Air defense forces destroyed two Russian ballistic missiles over Kyiv. There has been no official confirmation from the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces that the Russians attacked Kyiv with Zircon hypersonic missiles.
