U.S. may boost troop presence in Poland — Polish General Koziej
The presence of American troops in Poland will be maintained, which is a positive signal, indicating the U.S. is interested in its presence in this region
General Stanisław Koziej, the former head of Poland’s National Security Bureau, shared his opinions on Espreso TV.
"The visit of the Polish leader Karol Nawrocki to Washington was an expression that there is a certain convergence of strategic interests between Poland and the U.S. as a great superpower. Fortunately for us, there is a certain convergence of such interests, because the Americans are interested in being close to Poland, in having a partnership. Of course, the U.S. has global interests in many parts of the world that do not necessarily coincide with ours, but here they do coincide. And this was shown during the meeting between Nawrocki and Trump," the general commented.
According to him, the presence of American troops in Poland will be maintained, and an increase in the number of American service members on Polish territory is also possible. And this is a positive signal that shows the U.S. is interested in its presence in this region, that is, in being in Poland and, accordingly, being closer to Ukraine.
"In my opinion, this is in Polish-Ukrainian interests, because it is in Poland’s interest that Ukraine does not lose the war with Russia and comes out victorious. And here the presence of American servicemen is, first and foremost, a sign that our interests coincide. And secondly, I don’t know whether to call it a great success — the invitation of President Nawrocki to the G20 meeting, which reflects both Poland’s economic growth and its significance in the global game," Koziej noted.
On September 3, U.S. President Donald Trump said during a meeting with the President of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, that he has no intention of withdrawing American troops from Poland.
