Ivan Tymochko, a serviceman and Chairman of the Reservists' Council of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said this on the Espreso TV channel.

"Infiltration of reconnaissance and sabotage groups into the capital is an extremely serious issue. If we compare the tasks of reconnaissance and sabotage groups in different regions, they vary. In the Sumy and Kharkiv regions, the main task is to study Ukrainian military units, locate them, and investigate bases and locations. However, the purpose of such groups infiltrating into the Kyiv region is to effectively strike at this territory by Russians. Considering that the air defense system is quite developed, the task of reconnaissance and sabotage groups is to pinpoint the location of these systems during missile strikes, locate them, and determine the level of protection of both governmental quarters and the vital infrastructure in Kyiv," he said.

The reconnaissance and sabotage groups are mainly recruited from former Ukrainian citizens and are extremely dangerous.

"They speak Ukrainian or surzhyk, and understand local specifics. Many people have returned to Kyiv. This allows subversive groups to blend in with the population. Visually, they may appear non-local, but this could be just a pretext. Supposedly, they are migrants who have lost everything," added Tymochko.

"There is already certain intelligence data from the state authorities of Ukraine responsible for this area," says the Ukrainian Armed Forces serviceman.

"The task of the reconnaissance and sabotage groups is to swiftly detect and report on air defense systems or troop movements. Thus, it involves a network with communicators between those gathering information and those to whom it is relayed along the appropriate channels," explained Tymochko.

  • Kyiv's Defense Council has made urgent decisions amid intensified Russian attacks. The threat of infiltration by Russian reconnaissance and sabotage groups isn't ruled out.
