Ukraine's Territorial Defense forces repel Russian incursion in Sumy region
In the Sumy region, Ukraine's Territorial Defense forces have successfully thwarted an attempt by Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups to breach the state border
Commander of the Ukrainian Joint Forces, Lieutenant General Serhii Nayev, provided the information.
"Yesterday at 6:20 p.m., near the Hlukhiv community, our forces detected the movement of an armed group consisting of ten individuals. Immediate action was taken, with Ukrainian soldiers engaging in a firefight and summoning anti-sabotage reserves. Within minutes, mortar support was deployed, effectively suppressing the concentration of enemy forces," he detailed.
After sustaining losses, Russians altered their strategy, dividing into two groups. One group, shielded by artillery cover, evacuated casualties.
Simultaneously, the second group attempted to flank the stronghold. However, a counter sabotage group arrived on-site, preventing their maneuver, the commander explained.
"The intense battle persisted for an hour and a half. Thanks to the adept actions of defenders in the Northern direction, the enemy was pushed well beyond the Ukrainian border," Nayev underscored.

In preparation for such scenarios, Ukrainian military personnel in the Northern Operational Zone underwent training to combat enemy subversive and reconnaissance groups. The exercises included seizing and reclaiming lost positions.
