He said this on the Espreso TV channel.
"A unit of the Rubizh brigade is in the Chasiv Yar defense area. The enemy keeps trying to take the settlement, trying to outflank it. The adversary is trying to capture local neighboring settlements. The assaults continue every day, and the enemy's artillery and MLRS are firing incessantly. The city is being completely destroyed by enemy aircraft," noted Matviychuk.
According to the commander of the Rubizh brigade's reconnaissance platoon, the Russian troops are trying to push through the Ukrainian defense every day to take Chasiv Yar under their control.
"Most likely, the Russians want to do this by a certain date, by the day of the so-called Victory. Because we see that there is some kind of order for the adversary to take the city by all means. The Russians are bringing in additional reserves, namely paratroopers, to surround us faster. But so far, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are completely preventing the enemy from advancing," emphasized Matviychuk.
