Ukraine’s Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk reported the information.
On the night of July 21, 2024, Russia launched three Iskander-M ballistic missiles from the Kursk region and Crimea, two Kh-59/69 guided missiles from the airspace of the Kursk region, and 39 Shahed-type attack UAVs from three directions: Kursk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, and Crimea.
According to him, during the night attack, the radio technical troops of the Ukrainian Air Force detected and tracked air targets in over 10 regions. Units of mobile firing groups from all Defense Forces of Ukraine, as well as anti-aircraft missile troops and electronic warfare units of the Air Force, were involved in repelling the air attack.
"Last night, the air defense managed to shoot down 35 enemy Shahed 131/136 attack UAVs. Also, thanks to active counteraction, enemy Kh-59/69 guided missiles did not reach their targets," the commander said.
Oleshchuk said that the air defense was operating in Sumy, Poltava, Kyiv, Chernihiv, Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Mykolaiv, Odesa, and Cherkasy regions.
