Ukraine seizes over $50 million in assets linked to Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska
Ukraine has nationalized over UAH 2 billion worth of assets belonging to Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska, specifically more than 550,000 tons of bauxite and alumina
Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) reported the information.
“Based on materials from the Security Service, the High Anti-Corruption Court has granted the Ministry of Justice’s claim to transfer to the state the products and raw materials owned by sanctioned Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska. This concerns more than 550,000 tons of bauxite and alumina, which were produced in Ukraine before the start of the full-scale war,” the SBU stated.
The bauxite and alumina in question have since been stored at the warehouses of the Mykolaiv Alumina Plant, which was previously owned by Deripaska.
These materials were used at the oligarch’s plants in Russia to smelt aluminum, which is in turn used to manufacture components for ballistic missiles, combat drones, and radar systems.
The nationalized assets are valued at more than UAH 2 billion.
“The SBU reminds that Deripaska is part of Putin’s inner circle and one of the main ‘sponsors’ of Russia’s war against Ukraine. According to the case materials, the nationalized bauxite and alumina were owned by him through a controlled company registered in an EU country,” the statement emphasized.
- On January 29, a Ukrainian court seized new assets of Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska — a large batch of industrial products and raw materials worth UAH 2.11 billion.
