Ukraine looks to AI to reduce human involvement in war
The war in Ukraine is a war of technology, where old weapons are no longer effective. Currently, the state seeks to minimize the involvement of people in combat
Andriy Yermak, the head of the Ukrainian President's Office, reported the information.
"Artificial intelligence on land, in the air, and underwater. Land and air drones that independently identify and intercept targets, evade attacks, and make decisions faster than a human. Missiles with AI that can adapt to changes during flight. The goal is to minimize human involvement in the war," he wrote.
Yermak emphasizes that the development of military technologies will not only continue but will constantly accelerate. Not only leading Western countries but also states of the Global South are actively joining this race.
He noted that it is not about a one-time breakthrough or a single technological solution that will fundamentally change the rules of the game. It is a process of continuous renewal, competition, and adaptation. Whoever has faster, more flexible, and smarter systems gains a strategic advantage.
Traditional weapons, which were symbols of military power just a few decades ago, are losing relevance. Security concepts laid down in the 1980s no longer meet the challenges of today, Yermak believes.
Ukraine has already become part of this new technological war. It not only uses existing developments but also participates in their creation and implementation.
"And our security, as well as the security of the West, will depend on technological solutions," the head of the President's Office summarized.
In June 2024, the Ministry of Digital Transformation presented a White Paper – proposals for regulating AI in Ukraine.
