166 combat clashes on Russian-Ukrainian frontline in last day, one-third in Pokrovsk direction

In the past day, there were 153 clashes on the front. Russian troops are advancing in 11 key directions, while the Ukrainian Armed Forces are actively repelling enemy attacks

Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff reported this as of 8:00 a.m. on August 21.

 According to the updated information, yesterday Russia launched eight missile attacks on Ukrainian positions and populated areas using 13 missiles, as well as 83 air strikes, including 104 KAB bombs. In addition, it carried out 4,390 attacks, including 152 from multiple launch rocket systems, and used 1,558 kamikaze drones to attack.

Russia targeted 21 settlements across Ukraine.

Over the past day, Ukrainian missile troops and artillery conducted 15 attacks on Russian troops and weapons concentrations, three air defense systems, three artillery systems, one radar and one more important Russian military facility.

Frontline update

In the Kharkiv direction, Russian troops conducted offensive and assault actions near Lyptsi and Vovchansk 11 times.

In the Kupyansk direction, the number of combat clashes amounted to 15 over the last day. Ukrainian defense forces repelled Russian attacks near Petropavlivka, Berestove, Stelmakhivka, Synkivka and Stepova Novoselivka.

In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian forces fought off 18 Russian attacks near Makiivka, Novosadove, Hrekivka and Dibrova.

In the Siversk direction, Ukrainian Armed Forces rebuffed five attacks near Vyimka and Pereizne.

In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian troops beat back eight Russian attempts to advance near Chasiv Yar, Klishchiivka and Ivanivske. The situation is under control.

With the support of bomber and attack aircraft, Russian forces tried to advance twenty-four times in the Toretsk direction. They attacked near New York, Nelipivka, Toretsk and Zalizne.

In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian defenders countered 66 attacks. Russian troops are trying to advance in the direction of Vozdvyzhenka, Mykhailivka, Kalynivka, Novohrodivka, Hrodivka, Mykolaivka, Ptychyi, Skuchne and Zelene Pole.

In the Kurakhove direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces are holding back Russian forces near Kostiantynivka, Krasnohorivka and Karlivka. Russian troops tried to break through Ukrainian defenses 10 times.

In the Vremivka direction, the Russian forces made two attempts to seize Ukrainian positions near Vodiane, Donetsk region.

In the Orikhiv direction, Russian troops tried twice to advance unsuccessfully in the direction of Novodanylivka and near Mala Tokmachka.

Russian forces became more active in the Kherson direction. Ukrainian defenders had to repel five attacks on Ukrainian positions.

There were no signs of Russian offensive groups forming along the Belarus border. 

On the border with the Chernihiv region, Russia maintains a military presence and conducts reconnaissance activities.

The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to conduct operations in the Kursk direction.

  • During the past day on the Russian-Ukrainian front, the occupying Russian army lost another 1,210 of its soldiers, as well as dozens of pieces of equipment.
