124 frontline combat clashes: Ukraine's General Staff reports hottest frontline areas

Over the last day, 124 combat clashes took place at the front. Russian troops are attacking in 11 directions, most actively in the Pokrovsk direction

The Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff reported the information as of 8:00 a.m. on August 5.

Yesterday, Russia launched 53 air strikes on Ukrainian positions and settlements (including 74 guided bombs), carried out 4,890 shellings, including 97 from multiple launch rocket systems.

Russian air strikes targeted 2 settlements in the Kharkiv region; 12 settlements in the Donetsk region; and 2 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia region.

Over the past day, Ukrainian aviation, missile troops and artillery conducted 14 strikes on Russian troops, destroyed one artillery system and three control centers.

Frontline situation

In the Kharkiv direction, the Russian forces continued their assault operations. There were 11 combat clashes near Hlyboke, Lyptsi, Tykhe, and Vovchansk settlements.

In the Kupyansk direction, the number of combat clashes increased to six over the day. Ukrainian defense forces repelled the Russian troops' assault near five different settlements. The Russians focused their efforts towards Petropavlivka, conducting two attacks.

In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian troops rebuffed eight Russian attacks near Makiivka, Terny and Nevske.

In the Siversk direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces fought off eight attacks near Spirne, Verkhniokamianske, Pereizne and Vyimka. The Russian military conducted five of the above attacks near the latter.

In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian troops stopped 15 Russian attempts to break through Ukrainian defenses near Chasiv Yar, where more than half of all the fighting took place, as well as Ivanivske, Stupochky, Bila Hora, Klishchiivka and Andriivka.

The Russian forces launched 18 attacks in the Toretsk direction. They concentrated their efforts near the towns of Niu York and Toretsk, conducting almost 80% of all combat clashes there. In addition, they attacked near Zalizne and Pivnichne. The Russian troops actively bombed the town of Toretsk and its outskirts, conducting 14 air strikes.

In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian defenders beat back 30 attacks. The Russian military concentrated their main efforts near Zhelanne and Novooleksandrivka, where almost half of the total number of clashes took place.

In the Kurakhove direction, Ukrainian Armed Forces are holding back the Russian troops near Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Kostiantynivka, Paraskoviivka and Karlivka. In total, the Russian forces made 11 attempts to break through Ukrainian troops' defenses.

In the Vremivka direction, the Russian invaders made six attacks on Ukrainian positions. Three of them took place near Vodiane.

In the Orikhiv direction, three combat clashes took place near Mala Tokmachka. The Russian troops conducted two more attacks near Robotyne and in the direction of Novodanylivka.

In the Kherson direction, the Russian forces were defeated in two firefights.

On the border with Belarus, no signs of Russian offensive groups were detected. The operational situation has not changed significantly.

On the border with Chernihiv and Sumy regions, the Russian forces maintain a military presence and fired from the Russian territory, in particular, at the settlements of Sopych, Bachivsk, Chuikivka and Prohres.

  • Over the past day, the invading Russian army lost 1,180 troops and dozens of pieces of equipment on the Russian-Ukrainian front.
