Ukraine's Kursk operation: Russian troops mass in thousands to push for advancement, says top general
Tens of thousands of Russian troops from elite units are attempting to push back Ukrainian forces and advance along the Kursk frontline
Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi shared the information following the results of operations conducted by units and subdivisions involved in combat in the Kursk direction.
The Commander-in-Chief emphasized that the importance of this operational area cannot be underestimated given the number of Russian troops concentrated there.
“If it were not for the resilience of our soldiers, these tens of thousands of troops from the best Russian strike units would have stormed Ukrainian positions at the Pokrovsk, Kurakhove or Toretsk directions, which would have significantly worsened the situation at the front,” emphasized Syrskyi.
According to him, Russian forces are now trying to push Ukrainian troops out and advance deeper into the territory that remains under the control of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, following orders from their military leadership.
“Our task in this area is to deter and destroy Russian forces on their soil. Therefore, my work was focused on assisting commanders in organizing combat operations, enhancing the effectiveness of fire support, and addressing the issues of comprehensive supply and reserve training,” the Commander-in-Chief added.
- According to Ukraine's General Staff, 160 combat clashes took place on the Russian-Ukrainian front on November 10. Russian troops are most active in the Kurakhove and Pokrovsk sectors.
