El Mundo reported the information.
According to reports, the A330 plane belonging to the Spanish Air and Space Force, which was en route to the Šiauliai airbase in Lithuania on Wednesday, September 24, with Robles on board, “experienced an attempted GPS interference” while flying over Kaliningrad.
The incident, explained by the commander on board, is fairly common during commercial and military flights over Kaliningrad and involves attempts to disorient pilots.
In the case of the military plane carrying Robles, the attempt failed, as the aircraft receives guidance from a military satellite.
- On August 31, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen’s plane was forced to land in Bulgaria using paper maps due to a GPS failure, possibly caused by a Russian attack.
