Ukraine’s border situation remains hard, Russia is trying to attack on two fronts
The occupying Russian forces may expand the area of active hostilities so that Ukraine must deploy the necessary forces and equipment to other area
This was reported by Andriy Demchenko, spokesman for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, on Espreso TV.
"The situation along the border with the aggressor country remains complicated. The enemy is trying to continue attacking in the direction of Lyptsi and Vovchansk. In our defense zone, where the units of the State Border Guard Service of the Defense Forces are located, it is mainly the Vovchansk direction. Our troops, along with other Ukrainian soldiers, continue to repel enemy attacks. Of course, the enemy does not have enough forces to move deep into the territory of Ukraine, but unfortunately, the enemy continues to reinforce this area with its own forces and equipment, including by redeploying units. Border guards are actively using all available means, including artillery, mortars, and attack drones, to inflict maximum damage on the enemy," he said.
No attempts of the Russian army to advance are observed in Sumy region, said Demchenko: "Despite the fact that the enemy does not have sufficient forces, we must be prepared for any situation, including in the Sumy direction and in other areas."
The Russia's task today is to achieve its strategic goal. Russian army may also expand the area of active hostilities, the spokesman for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine noted.
"The enemy is insidious, its goal, even if it realizes that it will not be able to move deep into the territory of Ukraine, is to achieve its strategic goal. The Russian army can also expand the area of active hostilities so that Ukraine can deploy the necessary forces and means to these areas. In fact, in this way, it is forcing Ukraine to keep the necessary forces here, rather than using them on the front line, where more active hostilities have been going on for a long time," he said.
The Russian army does not stop shelling the border of our Ukraine within Sumy, Kharkiv and Chernihiv regions. However, the number of attacks has decreased, says Demchenko.
"Every month in the spring we recorded more than 3,000 attacks carried out by the Russians on the territory of these regions, using a variety of weapons. And since the beginning of this month, the number of attacks has been around 1,000," he added.
