Senior officer: Downing Russian helicopter with FPV drone was no accident but careful work
Before downing a Russian Mi-8 helicopter with an FPV drone, operators of the “Predators of Heights” battalion carefully prepared and conducted reconnaissance
Senior officer of the communications unit of the 59th Detached Assault Brigade of unmanned systems, Taras Myshak, said this on Espreso.
“Yes, it was indeed the fighters of our brigade who shot down the Russian Mi-8 helicopter. Specifically, the first battalion of unmanned systems ‘Predators of Heights.’ More precisely, it was the ‘Baltika’ crew,” Myshak said.
According to him, the operators of the battalion made several previous attempts to bring down the helicopter.
“Russians claim that the crew of the downed Mi-8 survived, but I think anyone who watched the video of the hit — especially the one published by the Russians themselves — understood that no one survived.
Was it an accident? No, it was not. Our guys monitored that helicopter for more than a day, conducted long reconnaissance, identified a pattern in the Mi-8 crew’s flights, calculated their route and approximate flight time. Of course, there was some luck, as there had been several earlier attempts to shoot it down. But this time everything worked as it should. Luck favors those who prepare well and master their craft,” he concluded.
