Russian Major General Sarvarov killed in car blast in Moscow
On Monday morning, December 22, a car exploded in southern Moscow with Russian Major General Fanil Sarvarov inside
The state propaganda agency TASS reports his death.
"The victim of the explosion on Yasenovaya Street in Moscow was Fanil Sarvarov, head of the Operational Training Directorate of the Russian Armed Forces," the statement reads.
Ukrainian intelligence services are being blamed for the "terrorist attack." The explosion was first reported by Russian propaganda outlet RT.
The Moscow explosion occurred at 06:55 local time. The car was in motion at that moment.
"At first we thought they shot down a drone... There was an explosion, but no fire," a local resident stated.
As a result, the driver was taken to intensive care. Propagandists suggested he "might be military." Meanwhile, VChK-OGPU and Rucriminal.info reported that it was Fanil Sarvarov's car.
What is known about Fanil Sarvarov
Between 1992 and 2003, he directly participated in combat operations for 6 years during the Ossetian-Ingush conflict and the Chechen War.
In 2015–2016, he carried out tasks related to organizing and conducting operations in Syria.
He was a participant in Russia's war against Ukraine.
