Since the beginning of March, Russian forces have continued their attempts to break through the Ukrainian defenders’ defense line in the Piatykhatky-Mali Shcherbaky section in the Zaporizhzhia region

This is reported by the DeepState OSINT information project.

According to their data, at the beginning of March, the 108th Russian Airborne Assault Regiment, after being reinforced, began assault operations on the Ukrainian Defense Forces’ positions near the village of Mali Shcherbaky. However, due to poor coordination with the Ukrainian unit stationed there, it was difficult to determine where and how far the enemy had advanced.

Later, reports emerged of the same Russian regiment conducting assaults on Piatykhatky. DeepState specialists recorded the clearing of the southeastern outskirts of the village.

“In recent days, assault operations on Piatykhatky have not ceased, and the enemy is striving to take full control of the area. The fighting continues,” DeepState reported.

Additionally, Russian forces were observed near Stepove, where they were attempting to reach and secure positions along a highway. So far, the Ukrainian Defense Forces have managed to hold back the occupiers using artillery and other firepower, but the enemy has approached the road.

“Small infantry groups are also attacking Mali Shcherbaky, but the situation there is still being clarified. It is known that the enemy has achieved some success on the southern outskirts of the village and is fortifying positions in tree lines. The fighting continues,” DeepState added.

The report also noted that Ukrainian units are facing typical challenges, but the military leadership is aware of the situation and is taking measures to stabilize it.

“There are high hopes for the 128th Mountain Assault Brigade, as it is the most experienced unit in the area. Additionally, other crews and units operating in this sector are carrying out their tasks effectively,” DeepState emphasized.

  • Earlier, the project reported that the frontline in Toretsk, Donetsk region, remains dynamic and chaotic. The Ukrainian Armed Forces have not conducted counteroffensive operations in the settlement recently.
