Russia regrouping in southern Ukraine, new assaults expected within days
The Russian army is regrouping in southern Ukraine, likely preparing to step up its attacks in the coming days
Nazar Voloshyn, spokesman for Ukraine’s Southern Defense Forces, told Ukrinform that while combat clashes are currently limited, the situation "remains difficult."
“In the past day, there weren’t many direct battles in the Zaporizhzhia region, especially near Huliaipole and Orikhiv. But the enemy launched airstrikes, artillery attacks, and frequent kamikaze drone strikes. Moreover, in the Kherson area, also known as the Prydniprovskyi direction, the enemy tried and failed to storm our positions. They also shelled Kherson and nearby communities on the right bank using artillery and kamikaze drones. So the situation remains quite difficult for us,” he concluded.
The spokesman has also noted that Russia is currently regrouping its forces and resources, conducting reconnaissance, and providing logistical support.
“Everything indicates that soon — in a few days — it will resume its offensive operations,” he added.
- On June 20, DeepState OSINT project reported that Russian troops had occupied the village of Shevchenko Pershe in the Donetsk region and were advancing on two other settlements in the region.
