Russia loses 10 tanks, 7 artillery systems, and 760 soldiers in one day of war in Ukraine – General Staff

Ukrainian defenders repelled 72 Russian attacks at the front, most of them in the Kupyansk and Avdiivka directions. Russian losses have already surpassed 376,000 since the beginning of the full-scale invasion

The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported the information.

The total Russian combat losses from February 24, 2022, to January 21, 2024, amounted to:

80 combat clashes take place during the day, Russian forces become more active in the Kupyansk direction

According to Ukraine's General Staff, near the state Ukrainian border with Russia and Belarus, the operational situation has not changed.

In the northeastern border area, the Russian army maintains a military presence in the border areas, conducts active sabotage activities to prevent the deployment of Ukrainian troops to threatened areas, and increases the density of minefields along the state border in the Belgorod region.

In the Kupyansk direction, Ukrainian troops repelled 21 Russian attacks near 3 settlements in the Kharkiv and Luhansk region.

In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian soldiers repulsed 6 attacks near 2 settlements in the Donetsk region and another 7 attacks near Serebryanka Forestry and Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region.

In the Bakhmut direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 8 attacks near Ivanivske, Andriivka and Klishchiivka, Donetsk region.

In the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian defenders hold back the Russian army, who keeps trying to surround Avdiivka. Ukraine's soldiers are steadfastly holding the line, inflicting significant losses on the occupying army. Ukraine's Defense Forces repelled 11 attacks in the Avdiivka area and another 12 attacks near 4 settlements in the Donetsk region over the last day.

In the Marinka direction, Ukrainian troops keep holding back the Russian army near Heorhiivka, Marinka and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region, where they repelled 6 attacks.

In the Shakhtarsk direction, Russians did not launch any offensives. 

In the Zaporizhzhia direction, Ukrainian defenders rebuffed one attack west of Verbove in the Zaporizhzhia region.

In the Kherson direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to expand their foothold. Despite significant losses, Russian troops keep trying to drive Ukrainian troops from their positions. Over the past day, they made 6 unsuccessful assaults on Ukrainian troops' positions.

At the same time, Ukrainian soldiers are actively inflicting losses in manpower and equipment on the invading forces, depleting Russian troops along the entire front line.

Russian forces launch missiles, aircraft, and UAVs: Ukrainian troops hit 9 Russian positions 

Russia carried out a total of 3 missile strikes, using S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles on civilian infrastructure in Novohradivka, Donetsk region. Additionally, they launched 4 air strikes and 58 MLRS attacks on Ukrainian troops' positions and populated areas. Russian terrorist attacks resulted in casualties among the civilian population, with over 40 residential buildings and other civil infrastructure destroyed and damaged.

During the night, Russian troops initiated another air strike employing 2 Shahed-136/131 type UAVs. Ukraine's air defense successfully destroyed 1 drone. Airstrikes hit Chernatske and Seredyna-Buda settlements in the Sumy region.

Russian artillery fire targeted over 140 settlements in the Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, and Mykolaiv regions. 

Throughout the day, Ukrainian Defense Forces' aviation targeted 6 concentrations of Russian personnel, weapons, and military equipment, 1 anti-aircraft missile complex, 1 ammunition warehouse, and 1 communication hub.

Ukrainian missile forces units struck 3 concentrations of Russian personnel, weapons, and military equipment, 1 command post, and 1 radio electronic warfare station.
