Poland scrambles fighter jets amid Russia’s major attack on Ukraine
Due to the massive Russian attack on Ukraine, Poland scrambled its military aircraft. Air defense and radar reconnaissance systems were brought to the highest level of readiness
The Polish Armed Forces Operational Command reported the information.
The command noted that following the Russian strikes on Ukraine, Polish and allied aircraft began operating in Polish airspace.
“In accordance with current procedures, the Operational Commander of the Polish Armed Forces deployed all available forces and assets at his disposal. Alert fighter jets were scrambled, and ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems were placed on the highest state of combat readiness,” the statement said.
These measures were preventive and aimed at securing the airspace, especially in areas near dangerous zones.
“The Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces is monitoring the current situation, and subordinate forces and assets remain ready for immediate response,” the command added.
- On the evening of Wednesday, October 29, the Russian army continued launching attack drones across Ukraine. After midnight, missile launches were reported. In Zaporizhzhia, an infrastructure facility was damaged and a dormitory was hit, with casualties including children.
