Sumy deputy: Russian rocket launchers have long been in range, no new threat

Volodymyr Bitsak, the deputy head of the Sumy District Council, said this on Espreso TV.

“This is a Russian information-psychological operation being spread by our adversaries regarding these MLRS. The distance from the border to the city of Sumy is 25 km. The Grad has a range of 20 km, the Uragan—35 km, the Smerch—90 km, and the Tornado-S—120 km. 

So, the Russians could have hit us with their rocket launchers before, and they have done so. Just a month ago, the city center was shelled, and three people were killed. So this is just an attempt to stir up panic, claiming that the Russians have now reached with their tube artillery. This distance has always existed,” Bitsak explained.

According to the deputy head of the Sumy District Council, the distance from Kharkiv to Belgorod is about the same. Belgorod is located 20 km from the Ukrainian border. Therefore, certain “responses” are also possible.

“So, it’s worth looking at the situation not from the perspective of imposed panic, but with a cool head. And think carefully before spreading such nonsense,” Bitsak emphasized.

• Around June 22-23, Russian forces shelled the village of Pishchane in the Sumy region with tube artillery. The village is located less than a kilometer from the border of Sumy.
