Military expert names Ukraine’s main goal in Belgorod operation
Ivan Stupak, Ukrainian military expert and former SBU officer, noted that the Ukrainian Armed Forces operation in the Belgorod region is much smaller than the operation in the Kursk region
He shared the information on Espreso TV.
"The operation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Belgorod region has been ongoing for two weeks, and it is not an offensive aimed at Belgorod. This is a limited operation, much smaller in scale than the operation in the Kursk region. The primary objective is to divert the attention of the Russian armed forces and alleviate pressure on the Sumy region, which is currently facing significant challenges," noted Stupak.
According to the military expert, several villages in the northern part of the Sumy region are already under Russian occupation, making it crucial to mitigate the ongoing Russian offensive, as the situation is extremely difficult.
"Many units of Ukrainian equipment were destroyed, and our boys and girls were killed. Many of them were executed, as the Russians try not to take prisoners but instead shoot them – this is a common practice for Russia," Stupak emphasized.
- On March 27, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy shared information about the Russian troops' intention to launch a new offensive on Ukraine’s northeastern regions of Kharkiv and Sumy.
