Iran supplies Russia with latest bombs – Bild
Military expert Julian Röpke believes that Iran has started supplying Russia with Qaem-5 guided bombs
The German outlet Bild reported the information.
Röpke reached this conclusion after analyzing video footage from the crash site of an Iranian Mohajer-6 heavy drone in the Kursk region, Russia, last weekend.
The drone was reportedly intended to attack Ukraine’s Sumy region but failed to reach its target. Footage shows that the drone was carrying Qaem-5 bombs, which have not been used by the Russian army in the war with Ukraine before.
According to Röpke, the use of these bombs may indicate a "new level" of military cooperation between Tehran and Moscow.
The BBC corroborates this assessment, noting that the munitions in the footage closely resemble the Qaem-5, a small-diameter bomb that can be mounted on Iranian Mohajer-6 and Hamaseh drones. The Qaem-5 features a television guidance system and can be equipped with various types of warheads. It has a declared range of up to 40 kilometers and was adopted by Iran in August 2019.
