Iran fires 27 ballistic missiles at Israel in response to U.S. strike
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) states that Iran has launched at least 27 ballistic missiles at Israel during the latest attack, marking Tehran's first direct response to the United States' strike on Iranian nuclear facilities
The Times of Israel reported that the attack was carried out in two waves — the first wave consisting of 22 missiles, followed by another five. The missiles struck areas across northern Israel, including Haifa, as well as parts of central Israel.
Magen David Adom Director General Eli Bin stated that emergency teams were operating at more than ten sites where missiles or debris had fallen. At least 11 people were injured in the attack. One man in his 30s sustained moderate injuries from debris, while the remaining victims suffered minor injuries.
The Ichilov Medical Center in Tel Aviv reported that five people, including two children, sought treatment in the emergency room following the missile strike. All are currently receiving care in the hospital’s trauma department.
In Haifa, one of the Iranian ballistic missiles landed without triggering any air raid sirens. In response, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have launched an investigation to determine why the alert system failed in that instance.
This marks the first time in the past 24 hours that Iran has used ballistic missiles against Israel, and the first such attack since recent U.S. airstrikes targeted Iranian nuclear facilities.
- On the night of June 22, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that American forces had conducted airstrikes on three nuclear sites in Iran — Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan.
- In response, the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran vowed to continue its nuclear activities despite the attacks by both Israel and the United States.
