How Russia's occupation of Prohres village impacts the course of this war
Oleksandr Kovalenko, a military and political observer with the Information Resistance group, said that Prohres village, Donetsk region is a crucial area for Russian troops, who are aiming to establish a security buffer south of the T0511 highway
He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
"Prohres is a village that connects the left bank of the Vovcha River and the Karlivka Reservoir with access to Karlivka-Netailove. So what is this area? This is a line, an axis along which the Russians tried to create a security buffer for themselves after the capture of Avdiivka, completely south of the T0511 highway. This is a highway that goes from Avdiivka through Ocheretyne and actually to Pokrovsk. By creating such a security buffer, the southern flank, the front, let's call it that, they are able to keep, firstly, the defense using a natural barrier - the Vovcha River and Karlivka Reservoir. Secondly, they can concentrate their forces and means directly either on the Toretsk direction or on the same T0504 highway from Pokrovsk to Kostiantynivka," explained Kovalenko.
According to the expert, as of today, Russian troops face an obstacle on the T0504 road due to the village of Vozdvyzhenka.
"This village is quite well fortified, and behind the village there are about 4 km of our borders. That is, the threat is the same as it was two months ago, three months ago, six months ago, because cutting the T0504 is one of the main combat tasks. But when they accomplish it, it will not be a short-term prospect," summarized the observer.
- Since the beginning of the day on July 21, 58 combat clashes took place at the frontline. Most of them took place in the Pokrovsk direction.
- Pavlo Lakiychuk, Head of Security Programs at the Center for Global Studies Strategy XXI, Captain of the Ukrainian Navy Reserve, noted that the Pokrovsk-Konstiantynivka-Chasiv Yar highway provides logistics for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
