Military expert and co-chairman of the Prava Sprava NGO Dmytro Sniehyrov has said that the Russian army is not only advancing in the Kurakhove direction but also in the Kupyansk direction and in the Chasiv Yar area

He shared the information on Espreso TV.

“Unfortunately, the Russians are achieving tactical successes not only in the Kurakhove direction. The occupiers continue to exert pressure on Ukraine’s defensive lines along the entire front. The situation in the Lyman sector is challenging, with advances noted in the areas of Terny and Torske. This creates a threat of the occupiers advancing towards Siversk, potentially leading to the operational encirclement of Ukrainian forces and further advances towards Sloviansk, particularly within the Sloviansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration.

The situation in the Kupyansk sector is also concerning, as the occupiers are making tactical advances once again. The Russians do not plan to force the Oskil River; instead, they intend to advance along its banks towards the Sloviansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration,” explained Sniehyriov.

According to the expert, Russian troops are trying to encircle the grouping of the Ukrainian Defense Forces in Chasiv Yar.

“The Russians continue to apply pressure on Ukrainian positions in the Chasiv Yar area. They have successfully forced the Siverskyi Donetsk canal and are advancing towards the M-32 highway, which is a critical logistical route for the Ukrainian Defense Forces. The occupiers aim to flank the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces concentrated in Chasiv Yar and subsequently plan to advance towards Kostiantynivka,” he added.

  • According to Serhiy Zgurets, Ukrainian military analyst, author of scientific publications, CEO of Defense Express media and consulting company, the lack of reliable fortifications may affect the defense of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kurakhove sector.
  • As of Saturday, November 2, 2024, the situation near the town of Kurakhove in the Donetsk region, which remains under the defense of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, has significantly deteriorated.
