169 clashes erupt on Russian-Ukrainian frontline, with Russia pushing in Lyman direction

Since the start of October 10, there have been 169 combat clashes, with Russian troops focusing on the Lyman, Kurakhove, and Pokrovsk directions

Ukraine's General Staff reported the information.

Over the past day, 169 combat clashes were recorded.

According to updated information, yesterday Russian forces launched six missile attacks on Ukrainian troop positions and settlements, using 17 missiles, 71 air strikes (with 114 aircraft), and firing 4,672 times, over 180 of which were from multiple launch rocket systems.

Russia conducted air strikes near 21 settlements across Ukraine.

In response, Ukrainian Defense Forces' aviation, missile, and artillery units conducted eight strikes on concentrations of personnel and weapons, destroying two command posts, an artillery system, a helicopter, and a Russian fuel and lubricant depot.

Frontline update

In the Kharkiv direction, Russian forces continued assault operations. There were five combat clashes near Vovchansk and Tykhyi.

In the Kupyansk direction, the number of combat lcashes amounted to 14 Russian attacks. Ukrainian defense forces repelled Russian assaults near Synkivka, Lozova, Kolisnykivka and Stepova Novoselivka.

In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian troops fought off 30 Russian assaults in the areas of Druzheliubivka, Hrekivka, Ploschanka, Nevske, Makiivka, Novosadove, Torske and in the Serebryanka forestry.

In the Siversk direction, Ukrainian Defense Forces rebuffed four attacks near Verkhniokamianske.

In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian servicemen stopped seven Russian attempts to break through Ukrainian defenses in the areas of Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Chasiv Yar and Stupochky.

In the Toretsk direction, the Russian troops, supported by aviation, carried out eight attacks. They concentrated their efforts in the areas of Toretsk and Shcherbynivka.

In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian defenders fought off 24 attacks. The Russian invaders concentrated their main efforts in the areas of Selydove, Krutyi Yar, Promin, Lysivka, Myroliubivka and Kalynove.

In the Kurakhove direction, Ukrainian Armed Forces are holding back Russian troops in the area of Novoselydivka, Kreminna Balka, Tsukuryne, Heorhiivka, Kostiantynivka, Katerynivka and Antonivka. In total, Russian forces attempted to break through the Ukrainian troops' defense in this area 24 times.

In the Vremivka direction, Russian troops made 11 attacks on Ukrainian positions in the direction of Bohoyavlenka.

In the Orikhiv direction, Russian troops unsuccessfully attacked the Ukrainian positions near Mala Tokmachka and Robotyne twice.

No losses of positions or territories were reported in the Prydniprovskyi direction. Ukrainian troops successfully beat back five Russian attacks. 

On the border with Belarus, no signs of Russian offensive groups formation were detected. The operational situation remains largely unchanged.

On the border with Chernihiv and Sumy regions, the Russian army maintains a military presence, actively uses aviation from the territory of Russia, and shells border settlements.

The operation of the Ukrainian Defense Forces in the Kursk region continues. 

“Our soldiers continue to actively inflict significant losses in equipment and manpower on the occupying forces, depleting the enemy offensive potential along the entire front line and in the rear,” Ukrainian General Staff noted.

  • On October 9, the occupying Russian army lost 1,080 soldiers in the war in Ukraine. The Ukrainian defense forces destroyed 41 artillery systems and 49 drones.
