Military equipment fleeing Russian soldiers left behind include interesting samples for us to analyse and track down component suppliers - military expert Katkov
Editor-in-Chief of Defense Express Oleh Katkov says that it is important to investigate the use of components produced in other countries in the latest samples of Russian weapons to find suppliers and prevent the release of these technologies in Russia
He shared the details with Espreso TV.
"Judging by the photos and videos seen, the number of captured military equipment of the enemy exceeded 300 units. The exact figure will be published later in the report of Ukraine's Armed Forces. But for the sake of understanding, the number of these weapons reaches the level of a brigade, that is, such an increase in trophy equipment is extremely important. It is necessary to take into account that it will have to be repaired first, because it will not be ready to go into battle right away. But one of the significant elements is that we captured a large amount of enemy equipment," the military expert commented.
Oleh Katkov noted the second important point is that each captured unit of equipment is a double loss for the Russian enemy. Ukraine's Armed Forces get a new unit, and the Russians are left without it.
"And the third important aspect is that during this time a certain number of extremely interesting samples of military equipment, which are in service with the Russian army, were captured. For example, the Zoopark counter-battery radar in the latest modernization, in the factory packaging and with all the instructions, the Orlan complex, a completely intact radio electronic warfare station of the Regatta aircraft was also found, that is, a huge array of interesting equipment is being created. All this will be analyzed in detail, not only from the point of view of the capabilities of these weapons and effective means of resistance, but also the use of Western components in the latest samples of Russian weapons will be investigated, even if they are not subject to sanctions, for example, as microcircuits. Such a study will make it possible to target the direct manufacturer of civilian microcircuits used in weapons and their suppliers in order to stop these supply channels and make their production in the Russian Federation impossible," Katkov explained.
