Russian forces send Melitopol locals to 'filtration camps' for simply having a Ukrainian flag in their homes - Mayor Fedorov

The Mayor of Melitopol, Ivan Fedorov, has said that in the temporarily Russian-occupied occupied territories, Russian forces seize civilians for simply having the Ukrainian flag in their homes.

He shared the statement on the air of the Espreso TV channel.

"After the service center where fake driver's licenses and license plates were issued was blown up last week, the building opposite this center was completely surrounded and a mass filtering of Ukrainian citizens began. A large number of soldiers entered the apartments and began to conduct interrogations and searches. If they don’t like someone, they immediately take them into captivity. Or, if the Russian military finds any Ukrainian symbols, they also take them into captivity," Fedorov said.

The mayor of Melitopol emphasized that citizens of Ukraine in the temporarily occupied territories are in particular danger.

"If a Melitopol family has a Ukrainian flag in their home, then in the best case scenario, people will be captured and interrogated for many hours.

Therefore, it is now necessary for all citizens of Ukraine to understand and realize that our people are in extreme danger in the temporarily occupied territories," he added.
