Mechanisms for Ukraine's rapid NATO integration should be found – Lithuanian President Nausėda
Ahead of the NATO summit in Vilnius, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda said that it is necessary to find specific mechanisms that would allow Ukraine to quickly integrate into NATO
This was reported by Delfi.
"Instead of repeating hackneyed phrases about NATO's open doors, we need to find more concrete mechanisms for Ukraine's rapid integration into NATO space after the war," Nausėda told reporters.
In his opinion, it is also necessary to abandon the idea that Ukraine's future NATO membership is a burden for the Alliance. Nauseda emphasised that the Ukrainian army, which has been tested on the battlefield and has such a rich experience as no other army in Europe, will strengthen NATO.
That is why it is very important that the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy will take part in the NATO summit in Vilnius this summer.
"I think it will be beneficial for all of us to have President Zelenskyy participate in our discussions. A significant part of the discussions will be devoted to and directly related to Ukraine," the Lithuanian president emphasised.

As a reminder, on April 21, the German Defense Minister said that the issue of Ukraine's accession to NATO would be considered only after the war is over: "Now is not the time to decide on this."
