“Sheikh Murat Suleymanov, the imam of the Muslims of Lviv and Galicia, has been elected as the new mufti of the Spiritual Administration of the Muslims of Ukraine. He is one of the most educated Muslim religious figures of Ukraine,” Said Ismagilov wrote on Facebook.

Murat Suleimanov is 32 years old. He was born in Crimea in a family of Crimean Tatars.  Sheikh Murat graduated from the Koran-hafiz school and knows the entire Koran by heart.  He also has a diploma from the University of Yemen and is the head of the All-Ukrainian Association for the Study of the Koran. Since 2015, Murat Suleymanov has held the post of imam of the Muslims of Lviv. He was deputy mufti for six years.

It is also worth noting that for 13 years the mufti of Ukrainian Muslims was Said Ismagilov.  However, in June of this year, Said Ismagilov resigned his credentials and went to serve in  the ranks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
